GNV/Haw Rail Trail- Horse Trail Hike

Rail Trail/Horse Trail Morning Hike
Time: Sign in 8:00am-- Hike at 8:15 am
Distance: This will be 4(+or-) mile hike on some of the horse trails adjacent to the GNV /Hawthorne Rail Trail . This is a hilly portion of the the trail. I estimate more than 25% of the trail is not shaded.
Option to hike the LaChua trail to Alachua Sink at the end of hike.

Parking Fee: $4.00/car OR State Park pass-Paynes Prairie North Entrance -La Chua Trail parking lot
Bring: Water, Hat, sunscreen,bug spray (it’s tick season), Binoculars and snack if you like. We will take a break halfway, at the Alachua Lake Overlook
Bathroom: Port -O- Let type near the parking lot
Dogs: No
Directions: From downtown Gainesville go east on East University Ave. After crossing Waldo Road /St.Rd. 24 stay in the very right-hand lane and bear right onto Hawthorne Road/SR 20. At SE 15th St traffic light at the Fast Eddies Liquors sign turn right (south) and follow SE 15th St. past Boulware Springs to the small brown sign for La Chua Trail- before the big curve.
Follow Camp Ranch Road to parking lot.
