Description:
Kathy Cantwell Trail (Orange): 2 miles-Sandhill Restoration Trail (Blue): 0.5 miles-as a loop 3.5 miles.
Terrain is grassy with roots so watch your step, and small hills, with 2 observation decks, plenty of shade on the trail minus the parking lot, this is a good hike.
Amenities: (Bathrooms, parking, restaurants, attractions etc.)
No bathrooms other than across road at Little Orange Creek Nature Park, parking is a grassy lot, nearby restaurants are off 301 in downtown Hawthorne such as Burger Barn, Dianne’s Old Time Barbeque or The Wrap Shack and Dominoes, Subway.
Directions: When coming from Gainesville you will take State Road 20 all the way thru Hawthorne, the trailhead will be on the left hand side. You must pass trailhead and take the first U-turn in Putnam County. If coming from Palatka you will be driving on State Road 20 till get you get to the trailhead on the right side.
