What we’re about
Moderately paced day hikes in San Diego County, California. A monthly happening for more than thirty-five years, formerly on the last Saturday of each month. Currently weekday hikes nearly every week, and some cross-posted hikes from other social media groups. Some GPX tracks and other information are posted at http://www.efgh.com/SDDH/

See all- Old Sea World Drive Bay TrailOld Sea World Drive, San Diego, CA
This is an easy walk along the north side of the San Diego River from South Shores Parkway to the Quivira Jetty and back, with an optional side trip over the snazzy new Sports Arena Boulevard Bridge. The total distance is about 4.7 miles, with very little change in elevation, entirely on pavement.
We've done this hike once before, on April 2, 2024. For a description and pictures, see www.meetup.com/sandiegodayhikers/events/300119491.
The walk is in Mission Bay Park, where dogs are not allowed (except much later in the day).
We'll meet at 9:30 AM and step off at 9:45 AM from the intersection of Old Sea World Drive and South Shores Parkway (N 32 45.685 W 117 12.851).
SUGGESTED ROUTE: Take the Sea World Drive exit from Interstate 5. Go west and turn left at South Shores Parkway. (There is a traffic light at this intersection.) Drive a very short distance to Old Sea World Drive and park along the edge of the road.
Park restrooms are available at a large parking lot north of this area at the end of South Shores Parkway. There are also restrooms near the Quivira Jetty, but construction in that area may render them inaccessible.
Wear good walking shoes, use sun protection and take water. You might want to take a snack. Take a camera if you wish; there will be some good views like the one that appears above. It was taken from the Quivira Jetty.
