This is an exploratory hike (limited to ten participants) on the abandoned part of Old Highway 80 near Descanso that is now called Wildwood Glen Lane, and a trail or two up the adjacent hills. It was inspired by a Youtube video whose title screen is shown above. To watch the video, use this link: https://youtu.be/V-z9cPme66s

We'll meet at 9:00 AM at the west end of the publicly accessible part of Wildwood Glen Lane (N 32 50.470 W 116 37.859). There is a parking area there. At 9:15 AM we'll step off.

SUGGESTED ROUTE FROM SAN DIEGO: Go east on Interstate 8, and exit at Highway 79. Turn left and go north about 0.85 miles and turn left into Wildwood Glen Lane. Follow it approximately 0.88 miles to the locked gate.

I hope to hike the Wildwood Glen Lane all the way to the west end, where the road was cut off by construction on Interstate 8. Many years ago, I drove this part in a 4WD, before it was closed to vehicle traffic.

On the way back, I hope to ascend the hill north of Wildwood Glen Lane on one of two hiking trails (or perhaps on both if we have enough time).

Parts of Wildwood Glen Lane are overgrown, and the trails up the hill are steep, so long pants and hiking shoes are recommended. Take a camera if you wish. I will be taking a camera and also my trusty GPS and voice recorder.

COVID-19: Masks are not required, but take one anyway, just in case.
