This is a 3.74-mile loop through Rancho Mission Canyon Open Space and adjacent residential streets. It is moderately hilly, with 336 feet in elevation change, and some good views. There are a few steep spots where hiking poles may be helpful. The difficulty is somewhere between easy and moderate.

Leashed dogs are allowed. We did this hike last year, on May 13, 2021. For more information, including photographs, see www.meetup.com/sandiegodayhikers/events/278068142

A GPX track of this hike has been posted at www.efgh.com/SDDH

We'll meet at 9:00 AM in the parking lot for Rancho Mission Neighborhood Park on Margerum Ave. (N 32 48.347 W 117 3.933) At 9:15 AM we'll start the hike. Notice that although the street address of the park is on Larchwood Ave., the parking lot is on Margerum Ave.

Wear suitable layered clothing and good hiking shoes, use sun protection and take water. No lunch stop is planned, but you may want to take a snack. Rancho Mission Neighborhood Park has no rest rooms, but it does have plenty of bushes.
