Engelmann Oak Loop at Daley Ranch

Description:
This is a 5 mile loop in the northern part of Daley Ranch. The City of Escondido owns and manages the more than 3,000 acres of the Daley Ranch preserve that provides over 25 miles of hiking and dirt-biking roads and trails. The Engelmann Oak Trail is in a more secluded northern part of the ranch. The preserve contains a variety of habitats including oak woodlands, coastal sage scrub, chaparral, grasslands, and riparian areas. From San Diego: Go north on I-15 and exit at Mountain Meadow Rd (exit 37). Turn right and continue straight ahead on Hidden Meadows Road until it turns left onto Granite Ridge Road. Go approx. 0.2 miles then turn right on Meadow Glen Way, which becomes Cougar Pass Road. Parking area is on the right just past the N Broadway intersection, and the trailhead is on the left.
