Scripps Ranch Doctors Loop

This is a four-mile loop, mostly through the eucalyptus groves bordering Pomerado Road as it passes through Scripps Ranch, with a small part running through chaparral. I call it the Doctors Loop, because that is how the trailhead is signed. However, there are no hospitals or clinics in this area.

We'll meet at 9:30 AM at a small, signed trailhead on the north side of Figtree Street near Figtree Court (N 32 54.938 W 117 3.819). The approximate street address is 12430 Figtree St, San Diego CA 92131. At 9:45 AM we'll step off.

The nearest public restrooms are at Jerabek Park, 10150 Avenida Magnifica, San Diego, CA 92131.

Hiking shoes are recommended, because the trails are steep and rocky in some places. Most of the trails are hard-packed dirt, and some parts appear to be service roads. The hike has some hills. Most of the hike is at least partly shaded, although eucalyptus trees are not very shady.

SUGGESTED ROUTE from San Diego: Take I-15 north and exit at Miramar Road, Pomerado Road. Go east on Pomerado Road about 3.1 miles, and turn right on Semillon Blvd. Go almost to the end of Semillon Blvd. and turn left on Birch Bluff Ave. Go almost to the end of Birch Bluff Ave. and turn left on Figtree St. The trailhead will be on your right, next to two groups of mailboxes. Park on the street.

Leashed dogs are allowed.
