San Elijo Lagoon Loop and Annie's Canyon
Details
5.0 miles, 250ft ascent. No hazards - except possible claustrophobia in the slot canyon.
We will climb up to a view point through the canyon, which is a steep, narrow one-way slot canyon with a ladder though the steepest part. Or you can use the two-way trail for both the ascent and descent.
We cross San Elijo Creek on a hanging pedestrian/bicycle bridge under I- 5, but not go as far as the intersection with Sta Helena trail, and then head back to the lagoon visitor center. The visitor center has rest rooms and a number of interesting displays. Last here on 8/21/2025.
