UTC & Campus Pt. Canyon - Urban walk

Overview: This is an urban walk: 7 miles, 3 hours. Total elev gain 500 ft. Mostly sidewalk, but some dirt trails and bicycle paths This is NOT a casual stroll: we'll be walking briskly, about 3 mph. There are several hills. Route map is below in Photos section.

Route: Start at Renaissance Towne Center, walk through UTC mall where we can window shop at Tiffany's, Bulgari, and Hermes. Thru some corporate gardens. Down through the little-known Campus Point canyon park into Sorrento Valley, up the UCSD bicycle path, where we can look for deer. Over the corten steel bridge, under the SD trolley line, thru the UCSD medical campus, and back to UTC.

Hazards: Everyone will need to be alert for vehicles, because we'll be walking on a few streets without sidewalks, and crossing quite a few streets. No need for walking poles on this walk.

Start time: Meet at 8:30am, start walking promptly at 8:35am.

Where: Near Peets Coffee, Renaissance Towne Center, 8905 Towne Centre Dr

Parking: Free on-street parking on Renaissance Ave and Towne Centre Dr. If you park in shopping center parking lot, it is best to park in the lots behind the stores, not in front.

Restrooms: in UTC shopping center
