Vacation Isle and Belmont Park

Overview: An urban walk. Mostly sidewalk, some sandy beaches. Distance about 8 miles. Duration about 2:45 This is not a casual stroll!! We'll be walking briskly, about 3.2 mph. Fairly flat. Route map in "Photo" section below.

Route: Start by walking through Belmont Park: view the Giant Dipper roller coaster and the Plunge swimming pool. Up Mission Beach boardwalk then over to Mission Bay and around the Aquatic Center peninsula. Pass Catamaran Resort, to Crown Point, then to Vacation Isle to verify that Paradise Point Resort is complying with public access mandates. Marvel at the Model Yacht Pond. Pass several places named after the author of Two Years Before the Mast. Around Bahia Point, and back to Belmont Park.

Start time: Meet at 8:00am, start walking promptly at 8:05am.

Where: Parking lot at 929 W Mission Bay Dr. (Free parking). The streets in this neighborhood are rather confusing, so if you are not familiar with them, you should allow some extra time.
