Description:
A pretty hike with great views, passes the flat and follows some fire roads.

FROM SAN DIEGO: Take I-8 east about 40 miles to the Sunrise Highway exit. Turn left (north) and follow Sunrise Highway (County Highway S1) about 14 miles to the Penny Pines parking area just beyond the fourth cattle guard, near mile 27.3.

There are no rest rooms at Penny Pines, but there are some along Sunrise Highway. The closest are at the Visitor Center at Los Huecos Rd.
Wear good hiking shoes, take PLENTY of water, sunscreen, a hat and a snack.
