Feminist Image Group (FIG) presents An Evening with Micol Hebron on Friday, September 15 at 5:30pm at Mesa College Gallery. Meet in courtyard outside the gallery by 5:30 and walk together to classroom where discussion will take place.

Micol will talk about how gendered language, aesthetics and gazes inform her artistic practice – including projects such as the Digital Male Nipple Pasty, Gallery Tally, and her latest AI work.

Hebron is currently working on a book about feminist pedagogy within artistic residency structures. She continues to host “Feminist Friday” community conversations every two weeks via zoom. Her latest body of independent artwork involves a critical and conscious investigation of the language of AI prompts to interrogate gender stereotypes on the internet, and generate delightfully surreal and often uncomfortable artistic digital images. Hebron is also continuing to develop summer residency programs around the world and next year Feminist Summer Camp will be hosted in Utah, Mississippi, and France.

About the Artist:

Micol Hebron is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice includes studio work, curating, writing, social media, crowd-sourcing, teaching, public-speaking, and both individual and collaborative projects. Hebron employs strategies of consciousness-raising, collaboration, generosity, play, and participation to support and further feminist dialogues in art and life. She has presented exhibitions, performances, and lectures at numerous international institutions. She has been engaged in individual and collaborative artistic and social justice projects in Los Angeles since 1992. Hebron is an Associate Professor of Art at Chapman University; the founder/director of The Situation Room resource space for the creative community; the Gallery Tally Poster Project about gender equity in contemporary galleries; and the Digital Male Nipple Pasty/Gender Equity initiative for the internet.
