The Four Horsemen of AI - Where To Now?

Developing an understanding of where we are as software developers in the age of AI is incredibly hard. Never before has the profession been faced with such an existential threat, coupled with intense demands for a developer to change, learn and adapt.

This presentation groups the issues into the Four Horseman of AI - Job Security, Dealing with Vibe Coders, The Death of Agile and The Future of the SDLC, and The Insane Pace of Change. After examining the challenges of each Horseman, the presentation will conclude with thoughts about how we can adapt, stay relevant and employed, and hopefully sleep at night.

About the Presenter
Nick Wienholt is a Sydney-based software engineer with over 25 years of experience in the design and implementation of large-scale software systems and has spent the last decade focused on development in the data science and AI space. He has been a keen user and advocate of ML/AI tools to accelerate development since their release, and has recently authored 'GitHub Copilot and AI Coding Tools In Practice' by Apress.
