4th of July Walk! (Boat Parade, WaterSki Show, Sparkman Warf's Firework Display)

Details
Happy Independence Day!
Special Thanks to all those who serve our country!
Welcome to the Sandy Pelican Adventure Group's 4th of July Independence Day walk to see the boat parade, water-ski show, & Sparkman's Star Spangled fireworks display.⛵
Did someone say run on sentence 😦
The Event
- "Meetup"
The group will be meeting up at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park by the water fountain and group of palm trees that are there. The water fountain is located near the "street side" of the park "N Ashley Dr" opposite of the river. The event starts @ 6:00pm so please be there sooner then that.
( I will bring something pelican related to make it easier to find the group. A beach towel, something like that.) 🪽
-
"Event Start"
From there, we will walk down to the waterfront to watch the boat parade which will have already started but the boats may not have made it that far up the river just yet. Which is fine, we'll hang out there and socialize until 7:00 which is when we begin the walk. -
"The Walk"
The walk isn't very long (1.5mi) which would take about 30mins. (If we were walking only, but we will be making stops along the way, so maybe about 1 hour)
I dont want to overdo it with the potential crowds and heat. It may take a bit longer if it's really crowded but thats okay. As we continue along, we will be passing the boats in the parade as everyone waves and cheers. Should be fun! 👋 ⛵
-
"Water-Ski Show"
As we continue on along the walk and round the bend at the convention center we will come up on the water-ski show happening in Garrison Channel. We will be able to spend some time there before heading on to Sparkman's Warf which won't be too far away at that point. ⛷️ -
"Fireworks @ Sparkman's Warf"
I'm anticipating that with stopping to see the water-ski show and possibility slower moving crowds we most likely won't make it to Sparkman's until 8:00pm or so maybe even later. Here is where things get tricky because the fireworks start at 9:00pm and at that point I think a lot of good seating areas will be taken up.
However I also think we will be able to see the fireworks just fine from all along the channel. So... the plan will be to pick a spot:
- Close to Sparkman's Warf
- That can accommodate the group
- With a clear view of the sky
- "Event End"
The Meetup event for the evening is officially over with the fireworks grand finale.
"Things to bring:"
- a blanket, sheet or towel to sit or lay on
- water, please bring something to stay hydrated
- sunscreen
"DO NOT BRING"
- coolers
- chairs
- fireworks
- pets
I look forward to seeing you there! It should be a really fun time out.
Once again, Happy 4th of July to the red, white and blue! 🇺🇲
