White Mountain Hike with Ella - A Mellow 5-Peaks Summit!
Details
Tick off another 5-Peaks Challenge summit with a mellow hike up White Mountain!
Join us for a late-morning hike and picnic at White Mountain and the Rock Garden. The Rock Garden is a hidden boulder field perched on a ridge overlooking Santa Barbara. If the day is clear and the marine layer is minimal, we will be gifted grand views of the ocean and the Channel Islands. It can be reached by a short hike of less than a mile from the top of Gibraltar Road. This will give us plenty of time to explore and wander amongst the boulders and beautiful pine trees. Please bring a snack. We’ll find the boulder with the best view to climb on top of to enjoy a picnic lunch.

From Santa Barbara, I recommend taking Gibraltar Road Highway into Los Padres National Forest. Continue for several miles and park on Camino Cielo just above Gibraltar Road. (Use the attached map for precise guidance.) I would drive the way shown on this map.
The group will meet at the trailhead at 9:45 AM for a prompt start at 10 AM. Please arrive on time to respect everyone’s schedule. Wear sturdy hiking boots or shoes, and dress in layers for changing temperatures. Most of the trail is exposed to the sun, so bring plenty of water and wear sunscreen. Bring a snack and 1-2L of water.
Note: Rain or low attendance cancels the hike.
Group organizers assume no liability; hike at your own risk. By participating in this hike, you agree to assume all risks and liability related to or resulting from this activity. Neither the group's leaders nor any third party will be held liable for any injury, loss, or damage. Participation is based on an "at will" basis.
