SBHX Tech Talk October 2024: Reactive Frontends Without JavaScript: The Power

Details
In this talk, we’ll explore the foundational principles of the World Wide Web as envisioned by its pioneers, compare them to the current state of modern frontend frameworks, and discover a simpler way forward. We'll introduce HTMX, a lightweight library that allows developers to build dynamic, interactive web applications using standard HTML attributes without needing to rely on heavy JavaScript frameworks. By embracing HTML as it was intended, HTMX breathes new life into traditional web development, offering a more elegant and efficient approach. We'll conclude with a live demo to show just how powerful and effective HTMX can be, demonstrating how you can achieve remarkable results with minimal or even no JavaScript on the client side.
Mark has been a Frontend Software Engineer for 6+ years, working on both native and web based platforms to create memorable user experiences with frontend frameworks using React, such as NextJS and React Native. His interest in HTMX started as a meme and grew into a deeper understanding about how simple the web could be if we just let it.
