Dear Magdalene Meet-Up Sisters

As we move through Women’s History Month, I’m reminded of the women whose lives continue to inspire our spiritual imagination. Mary Magdalene remains central to my work, and her story continues to shape my exploration of myth, archetype, and devotion.

It has been many years since many of us gathered in Santa Barbara, and I know our lives have unfolded in different directions. In the time since, my work has continued to deepen. I've had periods of living abroad and expanding my research into other mythological and archetypal figures. And yet, the historical, spiritual, and archetypal questions that first inspired the formation of this group have never fully left me.

I’m writing now to share two current offerings that have grown out of that ongoing exploration.

The first is a self-guided workshop I’ve just released, The Mystical Mary Magdalene. In this workshop, I explore her heroine’s journey in seven stages, inspired by the sacred windows at La Sainte-Baume in France. We trace her emergence as a mystic archetype whose devotion becomes the key guiding the completion of the heroine’s journey. The workshop is reflective and self-paced.

The second offering is an upcoming pilgrimage to France, where we will expand these themes in a more immersive way. Together we will explore Mary Magdalene not only as mystic, but also in her archetypal dimensions as Queen of the Underworld and Mother Creatrix, engaging the landscape traditionally associated with her final years in contemplation and study.

In addition, I am considering hosting an online or in-person gathering in the coming months. I intend it to be a space to reconnect and also to broaden our conversations beyond Mary Magdalene to include other archetypal figures such as Inanna (the subject of my forthcoming book this fall), the Greek goddesses, and so many others. If that possibility interests you, I would be glad to hear from you!

If any of these offerings resonate, I warmly invite you to explore the website and reach out with questions. I would be delighted to reconnect through this shared work.

With warm regards,
Dr. Annalisa
