Sunday Morning Trail Work at Baron Ranch

Details
Join us this Sunday for trail maintenance at Baron Ranch. We will be working on the Arroyo Quemado Trail, where we will clear invasive mustard and thistle with weed whackers and remove debris along the trail. The weather forecast looks great, with sunny skies and a high of 73°F, accompanied by northwest winds at 10 to 20 mph.
We will begin at 8:30 AM, so please arrive early. All necessary tools will be provided, but note that we will hike in a mile before starting our work.
Here are some important details to remember:
- Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, a hat, and eye protection (sunglasses are acceptable).
- Wear long pants and sturdy shoes (no sandals or shorts).
- Please be at the gate by 8:30 AM or earlier to sign waivers and attend a brief safety and tool talk.
- Don't forget your work gloves. If you don’t have any, we will have some available for use.
We look forward to seeing you there!
If you would like to be notified about other weekday volunteer projects, let us know by contacting us via our website: https://sbtrails.org/contact-us/
See you on the trail,

WILD AND SCENIC: Baron Ranch provides important breeding, nesting, and foraging areas for sensitive species and other wildlife present at the ranch, including bobcat, deer, black bear, coyote, mountain lion, rattlesnake, raccoon, migratory birds, frogs, turtles, and several species of raptors.
The project location is 20 minutes west of Goleta.
DIRECTIONS from the South:
Hwy 101 North, 2.4 miles past Refugio Road exit turn right at the road crossing onto Arroyo Quemada Ln., just past a yellow sign indicating “cross-traffic ahead,” before reaching Tajiguas Landfill. There is no northbound deceleration lane, so the turn-off must be anticipated.
Immediately turn left onto Calle Real and proceed approximately ¾ mile until the road reaches a white gate and a street sign that says “End.” Note that Google will not take you to the right place.
IMPORTANT: The trail is open seven days a week. NO DOGS ALLOWED.
