MULCHING FOR HABITAT RESTORATION!!
Details
Do you want to take part in restoring the native habitat at Baron Ranch?
If so, join us next Sunday morning, 11/16, at the ranch trails entrance along the Gaviota Coast to spread mulch that will help native plants grow! Adding mulch around young native plants is one of the best ways to help them establish strong roots by retaining moisture and limiting competition from invasive species, a significant threat to native plant communities. We will use pitchforks, rakes, and shovels to spread the mulch, which will all be provided (but feel free to bring your own!).
WHEN? Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 8:45 AM to 1:00 PM PDT
Arrive at the gate by 8:45 AM, or preferably earlier, to sign waivers and attend a brief safety and tool talk. Don’t forget to bring your work gloves if you have some!
WHAT TO BRING: Plenty of water, sunscreen, a hat, and eye protection (sunglasses are acceptable). Wear long pants and sturdy shoes—no sandals or shorts, please!

We will provide tools, but feel free to bring your own pitchfork, shovel, or wheelbarrow.

- Hwy 101 North, 2.4 miles past Refugio Road exit, turn right at the road crossing onto Arroyo Quemada Ln., just past a yellow sign indicating “cross-traffic ahead,” before reaching Tajiguas Landfill. There is no northbound deceleration lane, so the turn-off must be anticipated.
