DAGGER FLAT TRAIL RECONSTRUCTION - Volunteer Opportunity

Details

******** THIS IS NOT A HIKE ***********
*** RAIN, SNOW OR EXCESS HEAT AT WORK SITE WILL CANCEL EVENT **

Join Dianne for some trail clean up of the DAGGER FLAT TRAIL - No experience required! We're currently building stairs on the trail....a fun thing to do, and you can see results in one day!

THIS IS NOT A HIKE, but you will be among some of the most spectacular scenery near SCV. The trail is still there but it needs to be cleared of weeds and widened.

We will show you how to make/ maintain a trail. Get that special feeling of accomplishment as you work with other volunteers to complete manageable small outdoor projects (Trimming, trail brushing and stashing trimmings, building stairs). There are both easy and harder jobs. Heat, severe cold, wind, rain, snow, etc will cancel the work day, or cut it short.

PLEASE only RSVP "Yes" only if you can make it.

Meet At:
Google Latitude/Longitude coordinates 34.360824, -118.391941. We meet at Sand Canyon Road and 3N17 white gate.

Directions to Meeting Spot (White Gate for 3N17)/Santa Clara Divide Road.
Take the I-5 to the SR-14 North. Exit at Sand Canyon, turn right (South/East). Go all the way past all the houses, Placerita Canyon. Continue going straight. Enter the Angeles National Forest/San Gabriel National Monument, and continue up!up!up! Sand Canyon Road until you see a heart shaped memorial on the right side. Shortly after this you will see a small brown sign "Santa Clara Divide Road". The sign is on the right, and the road is on the left. Turn left onto this road. Dianne will meet you there, in front of the white gate. Dianne will caravan you and your car to the trail head, 4 miles beyond the gate.

Meeting Time:
We will meet at 7:45AM and leave for the trail head no later than 8:00AM SHARP. Please be on time, as we lock the gate behind us when we leave the gate.

Bring:
Boots, plenty of WATER, electrolytes, and snacks, a sack lunch. TP (there are no bathrooms), strong garden GLOVES (suede leather type recommended) , sunscreen, a cooling towel, sun hat, bandana if it is hot. Bring a mask if you cannot maintain social distancing. (A mask will also keep dust off of your face while working)

Do Not Bring:
Dogs, as they get bored. Also, it would not be safe to bring young children (due to sharp tools and trail is narrow in places). Leave your garden tools at home. Dianne will bring all necessary tools for trail work.

Thank you for helping bring back this trail, so we can all enjoy it. Be the first to hike on it when it is finished!!

Note: It's a GREAT workout too!!!
