Trash cleanup at the Iron Horse Trailhead along the Santa Clara River. Meet 8:30 AM on north side of Magic Mtn. Parkway just east of Tourney Rd. Bring sturdy shoes, hat, water, sunscreen. Gloves and trash bags supplied. Steady rain cancels.

Easy 4-1/2 mi, 50 ft gain along the scenic South Fork River Trail and Paseos in Santa Clarita. Meet at 5:30 PM at Vista Village Center in Valencia. Take I-5 Frwy N; exit McBean Pkwy, go R (east) on McBean Pkwy, go 1/4 mile to Tournament Rd, turn R, go 1/4 mile and turn L into shopping center. Park near post office. Bring walking shoes, hat, water and snack; possible going out for refreshments after.

Moderate 3.5 mi, 700 ft gain out-and-back hike along the Gates, Romo and Needham trails. Views of steep canyon tributaries, native vegetation, and microclimates. Meet at 8:00 AM at end of Pine St. Newhall. Exit Hwy 14 at Newhall Ave, go 1.5 mi N on Newhall, turn left on Pine St, go 1.7 mi, keep R on Railroad Motorway 0.1 mi to trailhead. Bring hiking shoes, hat, sunscreen, water, lunch. Hiking poles recommended.

Easy 4 mi out and back, 500' gain hike to Mt Pinos (8847), the highest peak in Ventura County, in Los Padres National Forest. Potluck dinner at summit and back to trailhead by dark. Learn about the serious threat to our National Forests and other federal public lands. Meet 3 PM in North Valencia by Embassy Suites. Take I-5 N, exit 126/ Newhall Ranch Rd, take right at exit to 1st light (Vanderbilt Way), R to Westinghouse, turn R and park on street. 90 min carpool to trailhead, meet at 4PM at Mt Pinos parking lot. Bring water, plate, eating and serving utensils, and main dish, side dish or desert to share. Bring hiking shoes, jacket, flashlight, and Forest Service Adventure pass.
