Paseo Stroll and Dinner

Easy, 3-4 mile, 100 ft gain, walk along paseos in Duane Harte City Park. Take I-5 to Santa Clarita, exit at Valencia Blvd, go east on Valencia Blvd 2.5 mi, turn left on Bouquet Canyon Road, go 1/2 mi and turn right on Newhall Ranch Rd, go to 2nd stoplight, turn right on Santa Clarita Pkwy, go 2 blocks to end of road and turn right on Riverrock Way, go 3 blocks to Duane Harte Park, turn right into parking lot. Bring walking shoes, hat, water, sunscreen

Moderate 8 mile, 1200 foot gain, hike along trail and fire road to Whitaker Peak (4140 ft), along the western boundary of the proposed North Angeles National Monument. Outstanding views of the Los Padres National Forest and Santa Clarita Valley. Learn about the serious threat to our National Forests and other federal public lands. Meet 8:00 AM in north Valencia by Embassy Suites. Take I-5 N, exit 126/ Newhall Ranch Road, turn right at exit, at next light turn right on Vanderbilt, for 1 block then turn right on Westinghouse, park on street. Twenty minute carpool to trailhead. Bring hiking shoes, hat, sunscreen, water, lunch. Adventure Pass required to park at Oak Flat Campground. Trash cleanup at the Iron Horse Trailhead along the Santa Clara River. Meet 8:30 AM on north side of Magic Mtn. Parkway just east of Tourney Rd. Bring sturdy shoes, hat, water, sunscreen. Gloves and trash bags supplied. Steady rain cancels.

Easy 4-1/2 mi, 50 ft gain along the scenic South Fork River Trail and Paseos in Santa Clarita. Meet at 5:30 PM at Vista Village Center in Valencia. Take I-5 Frwy N; exit McBean Pkwy, go R (east) on McBean Pkwy, go 1/4 mile to Tournament Rd, turn R, go 1/4 mile and turn L into shopping center. Park near post office. Bring walking shoes, hat, water and snack; possible going out for refreshments after.
