What we’re about

Meet to work "The Courage to Heal Workbook" by Laura Davis in a group.

This book is THE COOLEST workbook in existence! It is fun and it works.

Note: The group is private! All members will be asked to agree to ground rules!

This is simply working the healing writing and art exercises in the book for all types of wounds and creating the "building blocks of safety" and nurturing.

The book focuses on using writing and art as healing tools and takes you through a process of developing safety and nurturing.

The workbook is about "Healing with writing" for all types of things.

The cover of the book says "For women and men survivors of childhood sexual abuse."

The introduction relates that the workbook has worked for many people for all types of things, emotional abuse, losing a loved one, etc and that the outlined process of emotional healing is the same for all types of healing.

The focus of the book is on healing through writing - developing safety, nurturing, practical applications and conversations to have.

The group will be maintained as a safe space for you to simply work the workbook on your own and in your own way.

We will share about our findings in terms of nurturing safety, a space for ourselves, and nurturing ourselves.

We will also read parts of the book out loud together, which can often have a healing effect.

There will not be a focus or demand to share about your specific situation unless you want to.

The focus will be on working the book as Laura Davis has organized it - writing exercises, conversations to share about the techniques and processes,

And both writing and art as a healing tool.

Quotes from Part One: Survival Skills for Healing
Chapter 1: Creating Safety
Page 19
Within a safe environment, we can relax and be ourselves because we know that are well-being is secure. We feel free to take manageable risks toward growth and change. When you begin to talk honestly about your life in a safe environment, healing naturally begins to happen.

Chapter 2: Building your support system
Chapter 3: Dealing with crisis
Chapter 4: Nurturing yourself
(Many fun exercises!!!)
Chapter 5: Marking the way

It includes collage exercises, writing assignments, and all kinds of creative things to do.
All other ideas for healing are welcome in the group (somatic, yoga, etc)
