Synopsis: Join the Executive Committee of the Santa Cruz Group of the Ventana Chapter of the Sierra Club on a leisurely walk along the bluffs of Wilder Ranch State Park on the Old Cove Landing Trail. We'll have spectacular views (if it's not too foggy). We'll likely spy harbor seals in the water and on the rocks and, who knows, maybe even dolphins or whales. It can get chilly out there on the bluffs so dress in layers. There are ticks on the route (I picked up a hitchhiking tick the last time I did this route) so I strongly recommend you wear long light colored pants.
Distance: 3 miles
Elevation Gain: Flat
Meet: We'll start assembling in the parking lot near the bathrooms at 4:30PM and start our walk no later than 5PM.
Carpools: Carpools are strongly recommended to reduce our carbon footprint and it will save parking fees. Use Meetup to arrange your own carpools by posting comments
Level: Easy(1A)
Cost: $10 parking fee ($9 for those who are 62 and over)
Bring: Water, snacks, light colored layered clothing. Long pants and comfortable hiking shoes strongly recommended
Directions: The park is north of Santa Cruz, immediately west of Highway One, just a mile or so past the Western Drive stoplight.
Carpool: Carpools are highly encouraged. To set up your carpool post comments on this Meetup. If you don't mind walking an additional 3 mile round trip you can take the 40 Davenport to Natural Bridges Dr or the 20 University via Safeway to Western Drive and walk 1.5 miles from there. You do have a good chance of getting a ride back to Western Drive or possibly Santa Cruz if you do choose this option.
Note: Carpool transportation is at the sole risk of the participants. Cancellation Policy: Any rain cancels
