Enjoy a scenic hike through the northeast portion of Fort Ord National Monument. There should be lots of wildflowers.

Elevation 1400 feet

Please note that narrow trails are open to mountain bikes in this park and we will likely encounter some. Most will be coming towards us on trail 41. Note that it can get hot where we're hiking. Please bring at least two liters of water and sweet/salty snacks.

If you wish to hike fast and get back early, this is not the hike for you. Mellow hikers welcomed. Likely average pace 2 mph

Meet: 10:30 AM at Fort Ord Creekside Terrace parking lot. Return to cars approximately 6:00 PM.

Level: Moderate-Strenuous (Long 2B)

Bring: a hat for sun, lunch, 2-3 liters of liquids, and layered clothing. Good fitting boots with lug soles are strongly recommended. Parts of the route are slippery, smooth, and steep. No water sources on the route.

Directions: Take Ca 1 south to Nashua exit which comes up after it becomes a divided highway again. Go right on Nashua which becomes Cooper Rd and turn right onto Blanco Rd. Take Blanco to Reservation Rd (G17) and go left. Take Reservation Rd to Portola Rd and turn right following the signs to Fort Ord National Monument (don't be put off by "not a through Rd" sign). Meet at Creekside Terrace Parking lot.
