FREE FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHT: THE KEY ROLE THAT CRYSTALS PLAY IN ENABLING LIFE

When you think of crystals, you are likely to recall rocks of all colors, shapes, and sizes or cave formations arising from the earth or falling from the ceiling. But there are also crystals in your body that play critical roles in balance, hearing, and thinking. While the new age notion of "crystal power" may be met with skepticism some circles, there is no denying that crystals generate electrical impulses that control brain function. Tonight we will look at the pineal gland, a small organ in the forehead whose importance is still being revealed. What is piezoelectricity, and how does it function? What was once thought of as an unnecessary growth turns out to be essential for life. We will also look at the role crystals play in the ear, an intricate construction that allows us to hear and find balance in a constantly moving world.
