What we’re about

Welcome to the Santa Fe Prize-Winning Book Club!
We focus on reading books that have won major literary prizes or awards. This includes the Pulitzer Prize (all categories), the Booker Prize, the Women’s Prize, the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Edgar Award, the Hugo Award, and the Nebula Award. Please, no book solicitations.

If you are interested in reading award-winning books, reading outside of your comfort zone, and meeting a group of fun and avid readers, then this book club is for you! People should join this group if they are interested in reading (of course), socializing, and having a great book discussion.

The club started in January 2021. We generally read about six to eight books of fiction each year with the remaining books falling within the categories of non-fiction, biography, history, poetry, and drama. At the end of the year, we pick our prize-winning book amongst the books we have read for that year.

Each month the club reads and discusses the selected book, usually on the first Sunday of the month. Book discussions are at a member’s home in Santa Fe, and members can take turns facilitating them. This involvement encourages a vibrant club.

The club has a monthly BYOB (Bring Your Own Book) event at a local coffeehouse in Santa Fe to talk about books people are reading and to socialize. These are casual events. There are also events scheduled throughout the year which are usually associated with books, reading, or authors. The club enjoys attending the Santa Fe Literary Festival each year in May.

Our reading list is determined in the Fall. Members make book suggestions and a survey is sent to all members for a vote. The winners receive the highest votes.

Thanks for your interest in the club! Happy Reading!
