I am making changes to this outing. Snow conditions in the Jemez are not great (actually poor). I am planning to go up to check out the Norski loops and FR 102 conditions tomorrow, but a very recent report was promising. I expect to move this ski to either one of those options. Additionally, assuming it is good up there, I am adjusting our start time to avoid the crowds on road to the SF Ski Basin. Recent weekend traffic has been quite busy.
New location to ski: FR 102 or Norski
New time to meet to carpool up: noon
At the trailhead: 12:40p
If we ski the Norski loop area we will avoid the steepest sections of the "intestine" and ski bypasses. We can ski up to 2 times around to get 3-4 miles in. Alternatively if we ski FR 102 it is a down and back up that is completely adjustable as to when one stops and heads back up.
The terrain for both options is pretty mellow. You should be able to control your speed by snowplowing and be able to go up small slopes. If you are familiar with the ski ratings for the New Mexico Cross Country Ski Club, this outing would be rated a class I.
