Cross Country ski tour down and return on FR 102/Pacheco Canyon Rd.
Details
I've made changes to this outing. Snow conditions in the Jemez are not great (actually poor).FR 102 is where we will ski.
Our start time to avoid the crowds on road to the SF Ski Basin are listed here. Recent weekend traffic has been quite busy.
New location to ski: FR 102
New time to meet to carpool up: noon and carpooling encouraged due to limited parking at the TH.
At the trailhead: 12:40p
FR 102 it is a down and back up that is completely adjustable as to when one stops and heads back up.
The terrain is a closed Forest Service road so it is wide and pretty mellow. You should be able to control your speed by snowplowing and be able to go up small slopes. If you are familiar with the ski ratings for the New Mexico Cross Country Ski Club, this outing would be rated a class I.
