Details

This hike will be a beautiful, leisurely nature stroll with frequent stops in Black Canyon (below Hyde Park).
The focus will be on the ecology of the unique population of graceful white pines, including the threats they face from disease, global heating and mismanagement.
2.5 miles and approximately 500 feet elevation gain.
Wear appropriate footwear and bring adequate water, hat, snacks and rain/snow gear, just in case as elevation is around 8,300’.
The hike will be led by Sam Hitt, Santa Fe Forest Coalition, and Alan Shapiro, Northern Outings leader.
