Santa Fe Ski Basin to Nambe Lake
Details
Hike to our closest alpine lake with it's dramatic setting at the base of Lake Peak. This is a tough hike of 6.8 miles round-trip with some steep and rocky sections. The total vertical gain of the round-trip is about 2,000 ft. Our Days Hikes in the Santa Fe Area states the rating as Moderate/Strenuous.
The early start is to up our chances of avoiding afternoon thunderstorms. With clear weather we'll have the option of hiking around the lake or just relax and hang out. If the weather looks threatening, we won't stay by the lake long. Bring enough snacks/lunch along. Water can be filtered along the way if needed.
Be at the picnic table at the Winsor trailhead located at the lower end of the Santa Fe Ski Basin parking lot at 8:15am, or if you want to carpool, be at the parking lot at the top of Murales Rd. right where Zozobra burns at 7:30am. Zozobra isn't there but the giant support structure remains. Check the pin on the location map.
AllTrails app has a good map and track of the hike.
