What we’re about
Ever wish you could grab a coffee with a friend or go for a peaceful walk without worrying about another dog distracting your service dog? Want to practice off-leash skills and reliable recall at the beach to celebrate a successful week? Wish you could have someone else looking out for you if any issues arise? Lets navigate these situation and enrich the our lives as well as our dogs!
This group is for service dog handlers looking for a supportive community where we can chat, share experiences, and train together in real-world settings. Whether you're working on exposure to busy environments, public transit, the dreaded Walmart, or just need someone to sit in the park with while reinforcing good behavior, we've got you covered! Let's talk tips, advice and resources without judgement.
Sometimes, these things are daunting and lonely. Let’s do them alongside each other.
Guidelines for the Group:
-
Handlers Only: This is a space for service dog teams to connect.
-
Come Prepared: Bring treats, poop bags, toys, and anything else your team needs.
-
Leash Rule: All dogs must be leashed unless performing a task that requires off-leash work. As time goes on, we can discuss playtime and level of socialization.
-
Vaccinated & Healthy: Your dog must be up to date on vaccinations and in good health to attend.
-
Consult with Your Trainer: If you have any concerns, check with your trainer about how you can safely participate.
-
Respect for Teams: We are all humans and will treat each other as such. Teams may have different rules for their dogs, trainers may use different methodologies, and we might not all agree on diet or what harness is best. This group is for support only—unsolicited advice and non-constructive conversations will not be tolerated. We respect each other's boundaries, privacy, and animals.
-
Represent the Community Well: While we all have tough days, if your dog’s behavior becomes disruptive, we may ask you to take a break and return when they’re ready to participate without interfering with others.
Let’s build a supportive space where we can train, learn, and advocate for our service dogs together. Looking forward to meeting you and your incredible partners! 🐾
Please message me about our first meetup, a little about yourself, and what you hope to gain from this experience.
