Intro To Batik Scarf Painting (option 1 of 2)

Join us for a 6-hour class exploring the art of batik scarf painting! We’ll begin with the basics of batik lukis (hand-drawn batik), learning to use the tjanting wax pen, and then move on to coloring your piece using the design of your choice. This workshop covers both waxing and coloring, from start to finish resulting in a beautiful, wearable piece.

We’ll take care of the wax removal process. Your completed scarf will be mailed to you, ready to wear or display as a unique piece of art.

All materials are provided, including a 21" x 21" 100% cotton scarf. A 7" cotton canvas ring will also be available for practice.
Schedule:

• 11:00–11:30 AM – Introduction to batik
• 11:30 AM–12:00 PM – Learning how to use the tjanting
• 12:00–2:30 PM – Waxing (mencanting) your scarf design
• 2:30–4:30 PM – Learning batik coloring techniques
• 4:30–5:00 PM – Wrapping up
