Join us for FREE guided hikes in the Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park. The Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park offers spectacular views of the San Fernando and Simi Valleys. Our hikes include the historic Stagecoach Trail and the infamous Spahn Ranch. We also offer wildflower hikes during the blooming season. We offer various hikes for each ability level. Whether you are just starting out or are a seasoned hiker, our hikes are for you! All hike leaders are vetted and trained by the California Department of Parks and Recreation. Slow and Gentle Mindfulness Hike in the Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park
Difficulty level: Easy (3/4 of the hike is on a paved road) to Moderate (one gently sloping hill and uneven terrain for 1/4 of the hike). The pace is slow and gentle. Great beginner hike!
Hike Leader: Kimberly
Length is 3/4 of mile, taken at a leisurely pace.The Larwin Trailhead is located by the power lines at 10259 Larwin, Chatsworth, CA 91311. Look for the opening between the chain link fence and the block wall. Park on the street. DO NOT follow the online directions to the State Park because it will take you to a different entrance.
Wear long pants because the brush is thick and sticky. A light jacket or long-sleeved shirt is also recommended. Although we try to avoid poison oak, sometimes it is encountered. Wear sturdy hiking boots. A walking stick is preferred by some hikers. Bring plenty of water. A hat is also recommended.
Because this hike involves a seated meditation, this hike is not appropriate for dogs or for children under the age of 13 years.
Temperatures above 90 degrees, rain or red flag warning cancels.

Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park Welcome Walk
Difficulty level: Difficult
Hike Leaders: Richard & LizMeet in front of the Chatsworth Park South Recreation Center. Take Devonshire west (past Topanga Canyon) and enter Chatsworth Park South. When you reach the Historic Acre, turn left and drive to the parking lot. You’ll see the Recreation Center at the north end of the parking lot.
High steps on rock faces. Recommend trekking poles or a walking stick for balance at awkward spots.
Wear sunscreen and long pants because the brush is thick and sticky. A light jacket or long-sleeved shirt is also recommended. Although we try to avoid poison oak, sometimes it is encountered. Wear sturdy hiking boots. A walking stick is preferred by some hikers. Bring plenty of water. A hat is also recommended.
Rain, red flag warnings, or extreme heat of 90 degrees cancels.

Hike Leader: MichelleThis is a difficult hike due to uneven terrain and steep slopes. A walking stick or trekking poles are recommended.
Meet at the Lilac Lane trailhead, 7700 Lilac Lane, Simi Valley, 93063. How to get to the Lilac Lane entrance to the Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park (SSPSHP): Coming from the San Fernando Valley, take the 118 to the Rocky Peak exit, turn left and cross the freeway to Santa Susana Pass Road. Turn right and look for Lilac Lane where you can only turn left. From Simi Valley, take the 118 to the Rocky Peak exit, turn right and cross the freeway to Santa Susana Pass Road. Turn right and look for Lilac Lane where you can only turn left. From Lake Manor, take Box Canyon towards Santa Susana Pass Road. At Santa Susana Pass Road turn right and then right on Lilac Lane. From Chatsworth take Topanga Canyon north to Santa Susana Pass Road and turn left. After you pass the Rocky Peak entrance to the 118 freeway start looking for Lilac Lane, where you will turn left. Lilac Lane is a very small street! A brown kiosk is on the left with a dirt parking lot area (Do not park on the street!)
