Tangerine Falls by Creek Traverse

Details

I got busy with backyard projects, so now I'm behind on my 52 Hike Challenge this year. I have some hikes to make up, but I'll have to do that during my travels. :) Meanwhile, let's check out Tangerine Falls this weekend via creek traverse. Expect some boulder hopping, scrambling, wading (if there's water), poison oak, and basic climbing. There is a trail that runs parallel to the creek for the first half. For the second half, hike/scramble up boulders directly up the creek. The offshoot trails along the second half end up more treacherous than hiking directly up the creek.

The trail is very nice and mostly shady. The creek running through the length of the trail is very nice also. Towards the end of the hike, there is a little waterfall to the right. This is not Tangerine Falls, but still a very nice little waterfall.

When it seems difficult to go any farther, it is technically possible to keep going! The trail turns into a moderate rock climb, but no special equipment is required. Use caution and your best judgment to determine if this hike is safe for you.

When you finally get to the Falls, you will come upon a big boulder. The rock is climbable, but it takes some doing. Look closely, and be creative, but careful. Again, take into account your ability level, safety, and the present conditions on the trail to make sure you stay safe and have fun.
