Sun Setting & Barefoot Walking @ Oceano Dunes

The sand dunes at Oceano and the surrounding area is a distinctive and exciting geographical phenomena in Central Coast California. Previously I have explored this area on an ATV. For this trip, I would like to explore the sand dunes on foot, as in barefoot. And watch the sun setting. Return in the dark with a headlight or flashlight.

This will be my first time exploring the Non Vehicle Area. Therefore, don’t expect me to know the way around, hence exploring. Fellow hikers & explorers that meet the criteria below for experience, skill, ability, personality, character, and mindset, are welcomed to join. However, you need to know your way around and be able to get back to the parking lot in case of separating from the group or when you decide to leave earlier. Dress in layers, night temperature may be cold and it could be windy.

Experience & Skill: sand dune & beach walking/ hiking, casual to fast pace

Physical & Mental: healthy, fit & agile for hiking & exploring, be able to see well and navigate at night

Ability: assess & manage all risks effectively

Supply & Equipment: reliable headlight, adequate hydration, food, dress in layers, navigation apps

Personality & Character: authentic, cordial and pleasant to chat with, trustworthy, integrity, collaborative, sincere, effective in communicating

Mindset: adventurous yet very safety conscious, self responsible & self accountable, intellectually curious, independent thinking, open-minded worldview
