Gaviota Peak at 2461'altitude, often above the marine layer rolling in from the Pacific, is a great place for stunning sunsets and comet viewing. On Oct 14 last year. I had the best comet viewing experience for Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) from Gaviota Peak.
Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) is zooming away fast from Planet Earth. This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this comet. However, Sunday’s moonlight would be relatively bright, not the most ideal for comet searching.
My attempt to see the comet at Pismo Preserve was not effective, due to dense fog.
On the descent, we would check out the Gaviota Hot Springs.
