To learn anything new, it is most effective to start from your level and build from there. In this special talk, we will introduce you to iOS programming starting from your level. This talk is designed to be able to help those with varying technical backgrounds by offering multiple fundamental topics on the same day (each topic build on top of the previous).

You select a starting point to join the talk and build your knowledge throughout the session. Read on for details...

Starting Point 0: Intro to Object Oriented Programming

This starting point is for those with no programming or non-technical background (including UI/UX designers, managers, and entrepreneurs). If you want to understand how functinality works in iOS programing, you must learn about Object Oriented Programming. It may sound intimidating, but it is not. Learn the concepts while having fun.

Starting Point 1: Intro to iOS Development

This starting point is for those with computer science or some programming background. We will learn why mobile phones are important, the basic tools and components made-up of the iOS programming development environment. Learn about the IDE, and write a small program (both ObjectiveC and SWIFT will be covered).

Starting Point 2: Intro to iOS App

This starting point is for those who have gone through some online tutorial and is sort of comfortable navigating through the iOS development environment. We will show you the various components of a calculator and you can make your own custom calculator. In the process, we will show you the UIKit framework and how to write a stand-alone app (either ObjectiveC or SWIFT, your choice).

Starting Point 3: Personal 1:1 Boost

This starting point is for those who has been playing with the IDE and might have created one or more sample apps (by following online tutorial, etc.). Share with the instructor about what you have done/learn, and she can offer you ideas suitable for your next step of learning.

As always, bring your Mac. All attendees will receive a recorded copy of the talk.
