Oscar is teaching a wonderful Intermediate Bachata class through the City of Santa Clarita. His classes have proven to be a great success. Be aware that new dancers must successfully master beginner-level skills (possibly with Jonathan at 6:30) and that class size is limited. There is no way for true beginners and first-timers to fake it.

Co-hosted by the /City of Santa Clarita- you must sign up online through the "Santa Clarita Seasons" website before class. If you are uncertain where you fit in, you can audit the Beginner class at 6:30 and then be referred to the Intermediate at 7:45, and then sign up before the second class appropriately.

This dance course reinforces basic steps and introduces more complex patterns for partner dancing.

Bachata has recently evolved into several genres- social, Dominican, and sensual. We do not teach "the sensual style" as this deviates from the traditional purpose of Bachata, which is originally a style for the shy and polite. The course is primarily focused on the social style, however, footwork and techniques related to Dominican bachata will be shown to expand your inventory of moves and skills.

This is a partner dance, but for class, no partner is required. We use partner rotation to expand experience and skill techniques, but couples who do not wish to rotate may stay together.

Flat-soled, non-textured-bottomed shoes are helpful. Don't buy dance shoes for this casual style.

Those ready to go and committed should sign up online through the City of Santa Clarita Seasons website. The City will charge a nominal fee of $45 for this 4-week course of instruction.
