Beginner Casino Salsa Classes (Cuban style)

An Intro to Casino-style salsa is one of the best introductions to Latin dance. This dance form develops steps, simple patterns, team and partner dancing, a prep for performing, and is a lot of fun. Perfect for dancers new to salsa, and is related to LA Salsa, cumbia, bachata, and Cuban son.

The class is only $45 for the intro course. There are 5 weeks to go- enough time to get the feel for this wonderful form of salsa. You must register through the city of Santa Clarita Seasons Catalog (on-line) to join in the fun.

No partner is required (we have plenty of partners), and everyone is very welcome (all ages and all skill levels). Flat-soled, non-textured shoes are helpful, but don't go buy dance shoes for this casual and relaxed style.

Casino is taught in a team setting to include about 12 basic moves. We train as a team (much easier), and in time you can move to couples dancing.

Even experienced dancers of other genres (LA Salsa, Cumbia, Bachata, etc.) still need a beginner course in order to progress to the Casino Intermediate level. Intermediate dancers should be capable of couples dancing with ease and already must know about 12-15 scripted moves (that can only be learned as a beginner).

Cuban music is called "timba" and has a unique and easy-to-follow rhythm. We also dance to "Cubaton"- a modern hybrid of reggaetón and Latin pop, and Vallenato (from Colombia and Venezuela).

Newcomers can audit the first class for free to observe, but may not be able to participate after the first class because of City insurance requirements (the City automatically covers all those enrolled).
