Intro to Cumbia -2 weeks at Santa Clarita Park (Seco Cyn)

Enjoy Cumbia, the most popular dance throughout Latin America. The music will move you and smiles are guaranteed.

A short but efficient 2 sessions will convey the basics.

We will explore various regional styles, teach you how to dance by yourself (this is quite common), and also how to dance with a partner in open and closed positions. This dance form develops good timing, enhances footwork, offers simple patterns, is high energy, and is a lot of fun.

Perfect for new dancers and dancers who know other Latin genres but hate sitting on the sidelines when Cumbia is played.

No partner is required. Everyone is very welcome (all ages and all skill levels). Flat-soled, non-textured bottomed shoes are helpful but don't go buy dance shoes for this casual and relaxed style.

Cumbia is taught first apart, and then we progress to a few local styles that you can use at weddings, in local LA clubs, and when you travel (especially to Mexico and Central America). After a few weeks, you should be able to get out there and participate with skill and comfort.

Even experienced dancers of other genres (LA Salsa, Casino, Bachata, etc.) need a beginner course in order to understand the unique concepts only found in Cumbia.
