In conjunction with City of Santa Cruz Economic Development (http://www.cityofsantacruz.com/index.aspx?page=445), Cruzio (http://www.cruzio.com/), and NextSpace (http://nextspace.us/), SCNT MeetUp presents: Celebrating Tech Innovation in Santa Cruz - a series of 3 monthly (Sept, Oct, Nov) events celebrating the successes, journeys, and best practices of tech innovation in Santa Cruz.

We begin each session with "Wait, Wait, Don't Tech Me", an update from Sara Isenberg / Santa Cruz Tech Beat (http://santacruztechbeat.com/) on the top 3 tech stories in Santa Cruz.

Next up: Charles Vaske with Five3 Genomics (http://five3genomics.com/) will kick off the night with their secret formula for attracting one of the top biotech investors on the planet! Mark Zimmer Mark Zimmer - Author of Painter, Apple engineer, and Relativistic Observer - will talk about the magic behind Fractal Design and MetaCreations. Justin Laing will talk about the recent acquisition of his company by Lightspeed (http://www.lightspeedretail.com/). Chris Randolp and Daniel Heppner will share their journey on how the Aptos HS Robotics Club (http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/ci_23564250/aptos-hs-robotics-club-wins-international-competition-underwater) beat out 29 teams for the international underwater robotics competition.

Continuing the exciting Pitch Sessions - three (3) individuals/teams will be given 3 minutes each to pitch their startup idea to a team of mentors. Mentors will then have 2 minutes to deliver feedback. Qualification to pitch: you must have a pitch deck that can be presented in 3 minutes, and you must be actively working on your idea/startup in Santa Cruz.
