Roswell Weekend Away Eclipse Watch Party And UFO Tour

Details
This one is going to be so so fun!
Only eight U.S. states will see this October's partial 'ring of fire' eclipse, and New Mexico is one of them. While not a full eclipse, I've read time and time again that ring-of-fire eclipses are spectacular in their own right and well worth viewing. The eclipse's annularity, or eclipse centerline, passes right over Roswell, making it one of the best places to catch a clear, extended view (approximately 4:45 minutes of viewing time). And given that October is the spookiest month, the night before the eclipse is Friday the 13th, and Roswell is home to the best UFO lore ever, it just seemed like the most natural place for a viewing meetup party!

This is our tentative itinerary:
1. Meet in Roswell on Friday evening, the 13th, around 7 for dinner and UFO discussion hour (place TBA).
2. On Saturday the 14th, meet at the Pioneer Bank lot at around 9:30 am (exact place TBA), where the city is throwing a free watch party and handing out free eclipse glasses (I'll have a bunch, too). The eclipse starts at around 9:15, but the maximum eclipse is at 10:41.
3. I've been working with event operators in the area to set up a Roswell UFO tour, which would take us on a part walking, part driving tour of all of the places involved in the 1947 crash lore. Groups are capped based on the tour company's van size, so we're trying to figure out how many we can take and whether we can line up two tours in a row if we have enough people. So, tours will either be Saturday afternoon after the eclipse or Sunday late morning. They will also be on a first-come, first-serve basis, meaning if you want to go, write me and tell me as soon as you know, and I will add you to the list. Once we reach the maximum number of pp who can join, I'll start a waiting list, and we'll go from there.
Here is a link to the site that lists the UFO tour and their virtual reality shows and Lego UFO bricktown. https://www.bricktownnm.com/
The company is also trying to come up with a group price for anyone who wants to tackle all of their UFO space-related entertainment. But assume it'll be around $45 a person for the tour or $55 for the whole deal.
4. Free time between the eclipse and dinner or between the tour and dinner to visit the UFO museum or relax.
4. Saturday night dinner and possible city scavenger hunt afterward.
5. I'm leaving Sunday open for now but will shore things up as we get closer.
As of now, there are plenty of available rooms in Roswell for that weekend, ranging from incredibly inexpensive (50 bucks at the Motel 6) to $$$. But you will have to book a room for yourself.
Everyone is more than welcome to come for all or part of the event. But once you sign up, PLEASE DROP ME A NOTE AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU PLAN TO TAKE THE TOUR! If you plan to take the tour, I'll need to give the tour company a head count and collect payment for it via Venmo or Paypal (or other arrangements if you drop me a line) well ahead of time. For that same reason, please don't sign up to take the tour unless you know FOR SURE you will be joining!
I will also need to know if you plan to join us for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights so I have a headcount if I need to make reservations.
Once you RSVP, I will be in touch with more info in the days to come, so watch your email boxes.
And just in case you're still wondering who to contact to RSVP specifically for the UFO tour and dinners, it's Jennifer Wagner (your host and organizer).
Thanks, and looking forward to seeing you all there!
