Dear Backgammon Lovers,

Intro

A bunch, one short of a dozen, of our regular backgammon group, downed our shakers and dice to attend a brilliant evening of laughter and comedy at the CSC yesterday. We hope to do this again.

We often play other games in the evening such as Rummikub, Yahtzee, and a type of Gin Rummy... so watch this space!

Don't you agree that now that Summer is just around the corner, it's a great time of year to play our favourite social game?

Whether you're a seasoned backgammoner or a newbie looking to learn this fabulous game, this social event is open to all levels of players.

This is a great opportunity to meet new people, enjoy this strategy game and bond over a shared love of the game with a drink and perhaps dinner.

Why not join us for a afternoon and early evening of social fun and building connections over the rolls of dice. Can't wait to see you there!

Nearest Stations are:

Embankment, Charing Cross and a few more within an easy stroll. Many bus routes converging on or near to Trafalgar Square.

Venue Food and Drink

In order to use the facilities of this venue we will be expected to purchase at least one drink and hopefully more. There's also a decent selection of food and snacks in the Club all at very reasonable prices.

About our backgammon social group

In June 2025 it will be 10 years since I started and have grown our backgammon social group. We have held over 400 backgammon meetings and we are the largest backgammon group in the UK with nearly 1700 backgammon lovers.

What makes our group special are its members and the warmth, humour and friendliness whilst playing this splendid social game over a few drinks.

We have about 40-odd regular members who play socially at all levels of the game. We welcome new players too so do come along.

Dinner Time and Drinks and Food

In between the rounds of backgammon many of us sit for a meal around 6pm.

RSVP

Please RSVP asap - I often need to provide the Club with an indication of numbers. Please do not come to the Club unless you've RSVP'd or have messaged me and I've given the 'Ok' as the space and numbers are often tight.

Bring your own Backgammon Board

Love seeing the different styles and size of boards - my boards have somehow gotten larger over the years. Please bring your own backgammon board. Should you not have a board please let us know in advance via the Meetup message board. so that we can make an effort to bring sufficient boards to play on.

Meetup Fee

From 2025 I will ask for £4 as the meetup fees etc have increased substantially over the past year.

Gentle Reminder

Know that I really don't need to say this but please be courteous and say thank you wherever possible to the staff in the Club. Also be warm and friendly with each other and enjoy the game. Should there be any issues please don't hesitate to approach me or whoever is hosting on my behalf.

We also do like to have a laugh over the rolls of dice 😊

With one or two exceptions our group plays international backgammon tournament rules. I have outlined these rules on our meetup page.
