For February's book club, let's read The House of Doors by Tan Twan Eng. It is described as "a story of love and betrayal, colonialism and revolutions, storytelling and redemption." Rooted in real life events (it was, in fact, short-listed for a Walter Scott Prize for historic fiction), one of its main characters is W. Somerset Maugham Read more. It was long-listed for a Booker Award, named a best book of the year by The New Yorker, NPR, Slate, and The Financial Times, a New York Times editors choice, and recognized as a notable work by The Washington Post.
