I think this quote from Virginia Evans first novel, The Correspondent, captures the essence of the book, which we will discuss at our upcoming book club meetup on July 10, 2026:
“Imagine, the letters one has sent out into the world, the letters received back in turn, are like the pieces of a magnificent puzzle. . . . Isn’t there something wonderful in that, to think that a story of one’s life is preserved in some way, that this very letter may one day mean something, even if it is a very small thing, to someone?”
I hope you are enjoying the book as much as I am so far! Also, although I didn't track who suggested which book, the person who suggested the book also is welcome to lead the discussion on it. Just let me know if you want to do that.
P.S. Last meeting, we had several no-shows. Please honor your RSVP; however, if you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so that we may give your space to another. Three no-shows (without giving a heads-up on your status) will result in an invitation to leave the group. Thank you.
