"The Communist Manifesto"

Details

We will read and discuss the Communist Manifesto by Marx and Engels. We need not tell you how important this work is; but we do need to tell you that it's not what you think. Most people who claim to be "Marxist" really have not read this and often cannot define what makes an analysis "materialist" not what exactly this text says that makes capitalism wrong to the extent that Marx would say that. most importantly, there is a real sense that for a true materialist the question of whether capitalism is "morally wrong" should not even come up except for in the context of agitational propaganda rather then class-conscious theorizing.

If the Manifesto seems llke a hard read, then congratulations - you're doing it right. Feel free to take it slow and limit your self to the first section. There you will find a good example of historical analysis that I hope will inspire you in your own thinking on history, politics, and truth.
