Meditation and Discussion

Details
Hello friends,
We will be meeting up this Friday at 7:00pm at SarathChandra Meditation Center for two 20 minute meditation sessions followed by a group discussion on our meditation. In the first session we will be practicing Metta (loving-kindness) meditation. In other words loving-kindness in the selfless interest for the welfare of other living beings. Just like a mother has an affection towards her one and only child in the same way we will spread loving-kindness to all beings.
In the second session we will practice Anapanasati (mindfulness of breathing) meditation. For example when you take in a long breath you know, I am taking in a long breath. When you exhale a long breath you know, I am exhaling a long breath.
After we have completed the second session the monks will chant for you some blessings. If you wish to participate a chanting sheet will be provided, it is not required that participants chants, but we do expect participants to show respect towards others that are chanting by remaining in their seats and being silent until the chanting is done.
The last hour of the meetup will be a group discussion on our meditation experience or on the teaching of the Buddha.
Participants should dress comfortably and conservatively in accordance with Buddhist tradition please refrain from wearing revealing clothing such as sleeveless shirts, tank tops, muscle shirts, shorts, and short skirts. Also please try to refrain from wearing strong perfumes, colognes, body sprays and oils due to it may distract other meditators. If you have any other questions please contact us at 818 760 8361 or 818 395 5298. All meditations are lead by Chief Abbot Bhante Kolitha Maha Thera
