What we’re about

Please note: You must have a photo of yourself as your profile picture in order to be a part of this group. The photo must be a recent, frontal, unobstructed view of your face  (no photos with masks or face coverings either) and it should be clear that you are the center of attention should you decide to use a group photo.

Welcome to the Albany Social Anxiety Support Group! The group consists of three types of monthly meetings:
(1) Exposure Meeting, (1) Support Meeting, and (1) Social Meeting.

Exposure Meetings will consist of various SA exposure challenges that will help the recovery process. The intention is to provide a safe and supportive environment for challenging your social anxiety. Exposure therapy is a crucial part of overcoming social anxiety. The more you practice a situation, the more you desensitize your anxiety. The tough part is finding a safe place to do it—that's what this group aims to provide.

Support Meetings will consist of general discussion about living with social anxiety. The intention is for people of all ages to meet and talk about their experience with SA. You can participate at your own pace. If you just want to sit and watch, that is perfectly okay.

Social Meetings will be completely informal meetings where an activity is planned. The purpose is to provide a place where we can meet new people, socialize, and make friends. These meetings will take place on weekends.

There is no cost to join this group. People of all ages are welcome. If you have any questions, feel free to message me.

Thanks!
