About us
The focus of this meet up is primarily on hiking in the summer, and cross-country skiing in the winter. That said, if you have a good idea that fits the "outdoor enthusiasts" description, by all means, send in the request and let's post it as an event. Examples are: biking, camping, snowshoeing, kayaking, and canoeing.
Most of the events will be near Saskatoon, but there are many interesting places to explore within a few hours' drive of the city so...let's get out there.
Now the unpleasant part: meetup sites cost money, so in order to offset the costs of this site I'm requesting that participants pay $10 per year, due at the first activity you participate in each year.
See you on the trails...

Saskatchewan Landing PP Hike
Tim Hortons, Dawes Ave, Saskatoon, SK, CAPlease read the entire event description before signing up.
This is an all-day event, from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm or later. We will drive 2 1/2 hours to Saskatchewan Landing (30 minutes north of Swift Current), hike all day, and then return home.
This will be an intermediate/difficult event, depending on your hiking skill/fitness level. Because of this factor I'm limiting the attendance to 12 hikers. There will be elevation gains of 50 to 150 meters several times during the day, and I plan on hiking about 14 kms. That being said, there are also stunning views and a unique landscape for Saskatchewan. If you have hiked to mountain peaks in the Rockies, you should be fit enough for this hike. If you can't do long hikes or climbs straight up, please don't sign up.
We will do a loop from the end of the road from Goodwin House off Hwy 4. We'll start partway along Leg 1, Horseshoe, of the Beaver Flat 50 Marathon, total of about 9 kms. We will then continue on Leg 2, Spring Coulee, back to the start, total of about 5 kms. Having hiked the other sections of the marathon, this is my favourite loop and the easiest one to do. For more information and maps of each leg refer to Prairie Sky Running | Beaver Flat 50
The area is windy, sunny, sandy and hot; there are lots of cacti; and the trails are narrow and straight up and down. Closed shoes and hiking poles are therefore essential as are sunscreen and a hat, lots (and lots) of water, a windjacket if you have one and layers to take off as the day heats up.
There will also be ticks. To prevent tick bites, wear long-sleeved shirts and pants, tuck your pants into your socks, wear light=coloured clothing that makes ticks easier to spot, use tick repellent that contains DEET or picaridin on exposed skin, and take a shower or bath as soon as you get home.
Bring a substantial lunch and plenty of snacks as it is a long day. If you are not properly prepared, you put not only yourself at risk but also inconvenience the group if something happens (and it has in the past).
Meet @ the Tim Hortons on 11th Street and Dawes Ave (just off Circle Drive, on the west side). We will carpool from there. If you need a lift to the meetup point, leave a message in Comments and tell us what area of the city you live in.
If this is your first event of 2026, please e-transfer the annual meetup fee of $10 to eneudorf@hotmail.com And bring cash to pay your driver. If you have a provincial park pass, please bring it. We can also stop at the Visitor Centre to pay for passes, $11 for a day pass or free for seniors 65 or older in 2026 with government ID.
The current forecast is for a high of 17 degrees. If the forecast changes and it will be hot, the hike will be cancelled because the trail is totally exposed and it can feel up to 10 degrees hotter with no chance of relief in the shade. (And a few of us have experienced this - it is brutal!)

Cypress Hills West Block- Camping & Hiking.
Tim Horton’s, 3001 11th Street West, Saskatoon, sk, CAThis is a 5 day/4 night event. If 5 days is too much, you are free to join us for as many nights that work for you.
Camp
West Block campsite is rustic. Without cell service, electricity or water! It is 5 hours from Saskatoon. Some sites are in the forest and others are in a large unshaded field. There is usually potable water available at nearby (1km)ranger station but bring 10-12L and a water filter in case this is not possible. A creek is adjacent, and water filtration may be possible, but this depends on water levels. There are firepits. It’s a good idea to rely on a stove for cooking as fire ban may be in effect.Hikes
Thursday: Sask side 10-15km. Possibly this one:
https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/canada/saskatchewan/hidden-conglomerate-cliffs-trailFriday: Reesor Lake to Elkwater area 20km(Alberta side). Extension of this one:
https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/canada/alberta/reesor-lake-trailSaturday: hike from campground to Fort Walsh and massacre site.
Sunday: shorter hike before heading back to Saskatoon.
There are many other sites to visit in the evenings if time allows. Hikes may vary depending on weather and other options.
Transport: we will carpool. Passengers contribute to fuel costs. We will leave from Tim Hortons 11th St/Dawes Ave at noon on Wednesday morning.Gear: bring your own tent, sleeping stuff, and hiking gear. Maybe a chair as not all sites have picnic tables.
Food: bring your own food. 4 breakfasts, 4 trail lunches & snacks, 4 camp suppers, beverages. Lots of water. There are no stores nearby. It’s a good idea to rely on a stove for cooking as fire ban may be in effect.
Money: Cash, cheque or credit card to pay for campsite. It’s not reservable so we will pay there by envelope. Roughly 80/person for the campground. Last time I went it was 18/night but it may have gone up. In addition, fuel costs will to be determined by the drivers. Of course, you also need a provincial park pass.
First Aid: Each participant is responsible for their own first aid.
Water shoes can be a good idea in case we find some lakes or creeks to swim.
For day hikes you’ll need 2-3L water. It might be hot. Hikes will range from 10 to 20km, mostly on trails, with moderate up and downs and possibly some bushwacking. Forecasts can change quickly!
